Hope VI
The principal design element for the HOPE VI initiative comprises a green square which serves as the basic building block and focal point for clustered development. Such clusters included mixed-use development, family rental housing, and single-family homes. Housing elements which linked these clusters with adjacent blocks included a senior citizen mid-rise structures with first floor retail/commercial in the case of retail/commercial corridors and single-family homes linking predominately residential clusters with adjacent residential blocks.
- Jefferson Square - Mixed-use development including first-floor retail/commercial and second and perhaps third level residential. Housing units will be public housing rental units. Two senior mid-rises will be in relative proximity to the Jefferson Square site. Additional public housing rental units may be available over commercial/retail use along Jefferson Avenue corridor.
- Madison Square - Attractive multi-family esidential units to provide attractive affordable housing for public housing families.
- Marshall Square - Either attractive public housing townhouses or single-family homes or a combination of both if feasible.
- Wickham Square - Attractive single-family detached residential units.
- Heritage Square - Attractive single-family homes with a green space area in center of development.
- Lassiter Square - Features attractive public housing townhouses comparable to the scale of the existing new Lassiter Courts units but incorporating greater curb appeal elements.
