Fire Station 21

  • This Station sits on a 2.5 acre site in North Henrico County, adjoining a mixture of upscale residential and commercial properties.
  • This 11,125 sf one-story Station houses the County's Hazardous Material apparatus and equipment, and serves as a base for regional Hazardous Materials Response Team operations.
  • The apparatus bays are a three-bay drive-thru configuration—one for the Haz-Mat Command Center and support equipment, the others housing an Engine and Rescue Company.
  • A passive ventilation system for the apparatus bay was designed to minimize exposure to diesel exhaust.
  • Construction has been completed, operations began in 2007.
