DJG provided architectural design services and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering for the construction of a new turf field, including a 300 sf ADA-accessible press box with a media platform and aluminum grandstand seating with a masonry wall enclosure for approximately 1,000 spectators and an accessible family restroom in the existing Pomoco Stadium. Brick veneer paired with highly symmetrical elements of classical architecture connect the new stadium to the existing campus. In addition to submission to the Division of Engineering and Buildings for a permitting review, DJG successfully presented to the State’s Art and Architecture Review Board.
During construction, CNU requested that the hipped slate shingle roof of the press box be revised to accommodate a media platform with a maximum occupancy of (8) people. DJG expedited the preparation of a change directive detailing the structural and architectural changes needed to accommodate a wood-framed platform directly above the low-slope roof of the press box. Construction was ultimately completed on schedule just prior to the official start of the University’s fall athletic season.
